The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 folds shut like a normal phone and opens into a 7.6 inch screen that feels close to a small tablet. Samsung redesigned the hinge for this model, so the two halves now close flat with no gap between them. That makes it thinner and lighter in the pocket than the Fold4. Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip tuned for Galaxy, which handles games, video calls and split screen apps with ease. The Galaxy Z Fold5 carries an IPX8 rating, which means it can handle fresh water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. It is not rated against dust or sand, so keep it away from the beach and out of dusty cubbyholes. Salt water and pool water can still cause damage. The folding inner screen has a protective layer applied at the factory, and you should not peel it off. Avoid pressing hard on the inner display with nails or sharp objects.
