HOW OUR MAKERS WORK
Every piece in the shop starts with a maker, a few good materials and a lot of patience, from the first cut to the last stitch.
Our beadwork comes from women’s groups in Inanda and the Msunduzi area, who string glass beads in colours that carry meaning. Baskets are coiled from grass and palm by weavers who have done this for decades. Each one takes days, sometimes weeks, to finish.
Ceramics are thrown and fired at Umgeni Clayworks, then glazed in earthy tones that suit any shelf. Leather goods come from Msunduzi Leather Co, where bags and belts are cut and stitched one at a time.
Because everything is handmade, you may see small changes in colour, grain or shape. That is the mark of the maker. We pack each order by hand in Pietermaritzburg and include care notes where they matter.
