How to Start a Side Business After Your Course

Many of our learners start a small business soon after they finish a course. You do not need much money to begin. You need a skill, a plan and your first customer.
A catering course can lead to home orders for funerals and parties. A design course can lead to posters and logos for local shops. Write down your costs, then set a fair price in Rand.
Do not wait for the perfect moment. Start where you are with what you have. Fatima Adams, Small Business CoachTell your neighbours, post on WhatsApp and ask happy customers to share your number. Keep a notebook of every sale so you know what is working.
Start small after your course
Choose one product or service and sell it to five people you know. Keep your costs low by using what you already have. Write down what you spend and what you earn each week, even when the amounts are small.
Find your first customers
Use WhatsApp status and local community groups to show your work. Ask for honest feedback and fix what people mention. Fatima Adams runs a short coaching session at the hub for learners with a business idea.
