Sipho Mthembu
Coding Instructor, Ekasi Learn Hub
Hi! I’m Sipho. I teach coding at Ekasi Learn Hub in Khayelitsha. I have spent years helping young people in the township learn to build websites and apps on a phone or a shared laptop. I am also passionate about starting small businesses from Cape Town.
My Teaching Background
Before joining the hub, I taught computer skills at a local high school and ran weekend coding clubs at community centres in Khayelitsha. Most recently, I led the Youth Coding Bootcamp as lead instructor and wrote the beginner web lessons. Many of my learners have gone on to build their first websites and find part-time work or internships in Cape Town.
I’ve since focused my time on bringing classroom teaching to phones and shared laptops. In 2023 I launched my Build Your First Website with React course, which has since become one of the most popular free courses at the hub. I was also voted Ekasi Learn Hub Instructor of the Year 2025.Education
I have spent years working out the best way to teach technical skills to beginners, and I am glad to finally share what I know with you.
I can say that my online courses are made for learners with little data, and they work well on any phone.
