The Hoco HW1 Pro is a small car holder that puts your phone where you can see it without looking down at your lap. It is a handy buy for drivers who use Google Maps or Waze every day, for delivery riders in a bakkie and for anyone tired of searching the passenger seat. The holder grips the phone firmly on bumpy roads and lets you take it out quickly when you park. It suits most phones up to 6.7 inches. At R99 it is a cheap safety upgrade for any car.
Firm Grip
The arms hold your phone snug through potholes, speed bumps and sharp turns. Soft padding on the contact points keeps the edges of your phone and case free from scratches, and the whole holder looks neat in most cars.
Mount It in a Few Seconds
No tools are needed. Fit the holder, set the angle once and your phone sits in the same spot every trip, ready for directions and calls.
Place the holder where it does not block your view of the road, the airbags or any controls. Push it on firmly and check that it does not wobble before you drive off. Put the phone in while you are parked, not while moving, and use voice commands for calls. On hot Cape Town or Joburg afternoons, a phone left in direct sun behind the windscreen can overheat, so take it out when you leave the car. Clean the pads with a dry cloth now and then so they keep their grip. Remember that using a handheld phone while driving is illegal in South Africa.
The 6.7 inch size is the largest phone the holder is meant to carry, measured corner to corner. Very thick cases, wallet covers or grips stuck to the back may not fit, so take them off if the arms do not close properly.
