FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything is cut and sewn here in Cape Town by people we know by name, paid properly, working normal hours in a lit room with windows that open.
That is not a marketing line, it is simply the only way we know how to run a clothing studio we would want to work in.
Small runs keep us honest. If a seam puckers or a collar sits wrong we hear about it the same week, and we fix the pattern before the next cut instead of a year later.
It also means we buy cloth in sensible amounts from mills we have visited. Nothing sits in a warehouse for seasons, and very little gets marked down.
Karoobelle started with one cutting table, a borrowed overlocker and a plan to make everyday clothes that last longer than a single season. We still work from the same street in the middle of town.
Everything is cut and sewn here in Cape Town in small runs, from the Karoo Cotton Tee at R290 to the Table Mountain Jersey at R890. We keep the range tight on purpose, so each piece earns its place in a wardrobe.
We keep prices where they are by selling direct and skipping the middle. A linen shirt costs R690 because of the cloth and the hours in it, not because of a markup added somewhere along the way.

We started Karoobelle because good everyday clothing had quietly become either throwaway or unaffordable, and we thought there was room in the middle.
So we took a small studio on Harrington Street, bought four machines, and began with one washed linen shirt. Shirts became tees, then knitwear, dresses and kids basics. The range grew slowly, and every piece still has to earn its place on the rail.
