SOME WORDS ABOUT US

Handmade Eyewear, Made With Care

We love what we do

We love turning sheets of acetate into frames that people are proud to wear every single day.

Our working process

Every frame starts as a flat sheet of acetate, cut, shaped, filed and polished entirely by hand on our bench.

SIMPLE, HONEST CRAFT

About our online store

A small Cape Town workshop making glasses by hand, one bench, one file at a time.

Larkspec began in 2016 above a print shop on Loop Street, with one acetate saw, a borrowed polishing wheel and a stack of old frames pulled apart to see how they worked. We still cut every front in that same building, with a team of six.

The shop sells what we make: acetate and titanium frames, sunglasses, readers and screen glasses, all fitted with lenses cut in our own lab.

Our company history and facts

I still remember the first frame I filed by hand, uneven and a little crooked, but it taught me more than any machine ever could.

How We Shape Every Frame

There is a quiet satisfaction in watching raw acetate become a frame someone will wear every day for years.
