A LITTLE ABOUT TAKKIES

Careful Hands Make Takkies Here

We care about every pair

Every pair is cut, stitched and glued by a small team in a workshop near the beach.

How we work

We source hemp and recycled fibres locally, test each sole by hand and pack every order in paper.

SIMPLE NATURAL DESIGN

About our sneaker shop

Good sneakers should be kind to your feet, the ocean and the people who make them.

Takkies began on Beach Road in Muizenberg, where a few friends wanted a pair of sneakers that did not cost the earth. We started with hemp and recycled yarn, then added cork and natural rubber soles.

Today we make small batches, repair what we can and pack orders in paper. Every pair is tested on the sand, the pavement and the mountain paths around Cape Town before it reaches you.

Our story and some facts

We started Takkies in a small garage in Muizenberg, after years of surfing in worn out shoes. Today every pair is made with hemp, cork and recycled materials.

Design & sole making process walkthrough

Every morning the Muizenberg workshop smells of cork and fresh hemp canvas, and we cut the first pairs before sunrise.
