HEMP LOW-TOP IN DETAIL
A low-top built around three simple ideas: natural fibres, honest craft and a sole that survives the Cape winter.
Our Muizenberg Hemp Low-Top starts as a roll of hemp canvas grown without heavy chemical inputs. The cloth is tough, breathable and gets softer every time you wear it. We cut each panel by hand in our workshop on Beach Road and stitch it together with strong cotton thread. Then it goes to the lasting bench for shaping.
The footbed is natural cork, which moulds to your foot over a few weeks. Underneath sits a natural rubber sole with a deep tread for wet slipways and rocky paths. The lining is spun from recycled bottles, so nothing in the shoe is wasted.
Wear them to the market, the office or the beach walk. Brush off the sand, wipe with a damp cloth and let them dry in the shade.
Care and fit
