Smart Casual Workwear for the Modern Office

Two South African women in smart casual workwear: blazers, blouses and tailored trousers outside a modern office buildin

A good white shirt works harder than almost anything else in your wardrobe. Wear it buttoned up with tailored trousers for the office, or open over a ribbed tank top on a Saturday in Umhlanga. Knot it at the waist with a skirt for brunch, or tuck it into denim and add a belt. Our Crisp White Oxford Shirt holds its shape after many washes.

Tip: iron it while slightly damp and hang it straight away. Come and try one on at the boutique on Lighthouse Road.

Brunch in Umhlanga

Keep it light and comfortable for long tables, sea air and slow mornings.

Good style starts with clothes that fit your day. In Umhlanga that means light fabrics, easy shapes and colours that hold up in the sun. Start with a few pieces you love and build from there, one outfit at a time.

Start with the basics

Pick fabrics that breathe, like cotton and linen. They keep you cool on a warm walk along the promenade and still look neat by the evening. Add one piece with a little detail, such as a puff sleeve or a stripe, and the whole outfit comes together.

You do not need a full new wardrobe each season. A well cut shirt, a good pair of shoes and a jacket you reach for often will carry you through most weeks. Buy fewer things and wear them more.
