How we pack an order so nothing arrives bruised

Freshkorf grocery order being packed carefully with fresh produce, bread and pantry items in a delivery crate

Every order gets packed by hand. Soft fruit and veg go on top, tins and bottles go on the bottom, and bread sits in its own box so it never gets squashed.

We line each crate with cold packs in summer to keep things fresh on the drive to you. If anything still arrives damaged, tell us and we will sort it out.

Sorting first

Before anything goes into a box, it gets sorted into three piles: tins and bottles, dry goods, and anything soft or fresh. Heavy items always go in first, flat on the bottom, so nothing presses down on your bread or berries later. Bottles get wrapped if they are glass. Once the heavy pile is packed, the dry goods follow, then fresh produce goes in last, right before we close the lid.

Keeping cold

Chilled items like milk, cheese and salami travel in their own insulated liner, separate from anything that does not need to stay cold. We pack ice bricks around them, not loose in the box, so they stay pressed against the cold items the whole trip. Dairy and meat are the first things loaded and the last things unpacked, which keeps the time out of the fridge as short as possible. On hot days we add an extra ice brick without being asked.

Good padding

We pack fruit and veg loose so it can breathe, and we never stack heavy tins on top of soft things like tomatoes or berries. Bread and pastries travel in their own flat box. Cold items go in insulated bags with the frozen packs last in, so they stay cold till you open the door.

Cursus aliquam

Before a box is sealed, one of our packers runs a quick check down the order sheet to make sure nothing is missing and nothing fragile is sitting under something heavy. This last check catches most problems before they ever leave the depot. Boxes are taped shut, not just folded closed, so they stay upright in the van even when the roads are rough.

Our packers check every box before it leaves the warehouse. Glass jars get wrapped, eggs go in their own tray, and nothing heavy sits on bread or chips. We also note any items swapped for something fresher, so you know exactly what changed and why before you unpack.
