Keeping your child’s vaccinations up to date
Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect children from serious diseases such as measles, polio and whooping cough. In South Africa, your child's Road to Health booklet records each vaccine given and shows what is due next. Bring the booklet to every visit so we can check that nothing has been missed.
If your child has fallen behind on the schedule, it is usually possible to catch up, so there is no need to worry about starting again. Our doctors and nurse can explain each vaccine, possible mild side effects and what to watch for afterwards. Some optional vaccines are not on the public schedule, and we are happy to discuss them with you.
