Buying your first bike
Start with a bike you can handle. Sit on it, put both feet flat and check that you reach the bars comfortably.
A lighter bike is easier to learn on. Ask a rider you trust to come along when you view it.
Budget For Gear
Set money aside for a good helmet, gloves, jacket and boots. Add insurance and a first service. Our workshop can check any bike before you buy it.
Get your licence sorted before you start looking seriously. Riding on a car licence alone will catch up with you, and most insurers will not pay out on a claim if your licence does not match the bike.
Start Small First
A smaller, lighter bike teaches you more in your first year than a big one ever will. You can always move up once you have a season of riding behind you and know what kind of riding you actually enjoy.

Come in and sit on a few bikes before you decide anything. We will talk you through what suits a new rider, from seat height to weight, and we are happy to let you take your time instead of rushing you into a decision.

Ask about the service plan when you buy. A bike that is serviced on time at the right intervals holds its value better and keeps you safer on the road, especially in your first year of riding.
Ready To Ride
Buying your first bike should feel exciting, not rushed. Come in, sit on a few options, ask us anything and take a test ride before you decide. We will help you find a bike that suits your height, your budget and the kind of riding you want to do, not just the one that looks good in the window.
