One lodge for five nights can feel repetitive. Moving halfway through gave the Pillays two different landscapes, two different guides, and a change of pace in the middle of the honeymoon instead of at the end.
A private vehicle costs more than a shared game drive, but it means no early mornings waiting for other guests and no stopping the vehicle for someone else's photo. For a honeymoon, most couples find it worth the difference.
Kruger area lodges get busy over school holidays and over Easter, so book four to six months ahead for those dates. Outside peak season, six to eight weeks is usually enough for two smaller lodges.
