CUT AND SEWN
A quiet everyday piece that works on its own or under a jersey when the weather turns. The cloth is soft from the first wear and softer after a few washes, with a relaxed shoulder and a hem that sits well over jeans. Made in small runs at our Harrington Street studio, so the stitching gets a proper look before it is packed.
Care is simple and it matters more than anything we could print on a swing tag. Wash cool at thirty degrees with a mild liquid, keep the machine half empty, and skip the fabric softener because it coats the fibres and dulls the weave over time.
Dry flat in the shade rather than on a hot line, since direct sun fades dye faster than washing ever will. Iron cotton and linen slightly damp, press lambswool under a cloth, and fold knitwear instead of hanging it so the shoulders keep their shape.
SOFT COTTON TEE
The cloth is chosen first and the pattern second, which is why the fit sits the way it does across the shoulder and through the body. Cotton is a mid-weight weave at roughly 180 gsm, heavy enough to hold its shape on a hot Cape Town day without going stiff, and linen is washed before cutting so the shrinkage is already out of it. Knitwear is lambswool, spun fine and knitted a little loose so it keeps air in without adding bulk. Every panel is cut by hand in small runs, the side seams are overlocked and then topstitched, and the buttonholes are sewn rather than glued. Sizes run XS to XXL, and prices sit between R160 and R1150.

FABRIC FIT CARE
Every Karoobelle garment starts as a roll of cloth on the cutting table in our Harrington Street studio. We work with cotton, linen and lambswool because they breathe, they wash well and they get softer the longer you keep them. The cut is relaxed through the body with a little shape at the side seam, so it sits easily over a tee or on its own in summer. Sizes run from XS to XXL and we list the flat measurements in centimetres on every product page.
We sew in small runs, usually thirty to fifty pieces at a time, which lets us check each seam before it leaves the room. Seams are finished clean so nothing frays in the wash. Wash cold on a gentle cycle, skip the tumble dryer and dry flat in the shade to keep the colour true. A warm iron on the reverse is fine. Looked after that way, a piece will stay in your cupboard for years rather than one season.
