WHAT THE SCHOOL NEEDED
Forty teachers share one room at break, and most of the old furniture was older than the teachers.
The school governing body came to us after a parent saw our work at a Pretoria guesthouse. The staffroom had wobbly plastic chairs, a laminate table held up with folded cardboard and cupboards that would not close. Money came from a fundraiser, so every rand counted. We kept the plan simple.
We made two Table Mountain Dining Tables, joined end to end to seat twenty, and forty Fynbos Oak Dining Chairs. Chairs have felt pads so they do not scrape the tiles.
Along the back wall we fitted three Stellenbosch Sideboards with locks on every door. Each teacher now has a shelf for marking, tea and a spare jersey. We finished the oak in a hard oil that a caretaker can touch up.
Built for Highveld winters
Pretoria winters are dry, and cheap timber cracks. We used kiln-dried oak and sealed the end grain. Our crew delivered and set up during the December holidays, so the room was ready for the first day of term.
FAQs
Often. We quote on staffrooms, boardrooms and reception areas across the country. Send us the room size and headcount, and we will suggest a layout that fits your budget.
Yes. Schools and businesses can pay by EFT against a purchase order. We ask for a deposit to book workshop time and always send a proper tax invoice.
We plan around them. Most school jobs are delivered and installed during holidays, so classes and staff meetings carry on without any noise or disruption at all.
With basic care, for decades. Frames carry our 5-year guarantee, and a light sand plus a fresh coat of oil will hide most scratches from daily use.
