FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Leather needs very little: a wipe with a damp cloth, a thin coat of cream when it looks dry, and time to breathe between wearings. Two pairs in rotation last longer than one.
Never dry wet shoes near a heater. Stuff them with newspaper, keep them out of the sun, and they will come right.
Veldstride started in 2014 with one bench, two lasts and a stubborn idea that a good pair should be worth mending. We still make everything by hand in Cape Town.
Boots, sneakers, sandals, formal shoes and school shoes all come off the same bench, using the same leather and the same stitch. Bring a worn pair back and we will resole it.
Veldstride began in a single room off Sir Lowry Road with two lasts, a borrowed stitching machine, and a stubborn idea about shoes lasting.
We still cut every upper by hand. Boots, sneakers, sandals, formal shoes and school shoes all leave the same bench, and they all come back to it when the soles wear thin. Resoling costs less than replacing, and it keeps a good pair out of the bin for another few years.
The workshop is at 12 Sir Lowry Road, Cape Town 8001. Come in, try a few sizes, and watch the benches while you wait.
For repairs, orders or sizing help, phone 021 555 0164 or write to info@example.co.za. We answer on weekdays, and most repair questions need a photo of the sole.
We ship anywhere in South Africa by courier for R150, and delivery is free on orders over R1800. Most parcels land within three working days.
If a pair does not fit, you have thirty days to send it back unworn in its cotton bag for a swap or a refund. Cape Town orders can be collected from the workshop on Sir Lowry Road, weekdays until five.
