How to break in a new pair of leather boots
Good leather does not need punishing to soften. Wear the boots around the house for an hour or two at a time for the first week, with the socks you actually intend to use. The leather warms, takes the shape of your instep and stays there. Long walks on day one are how people end up with blisters and a pair they never touch again.
If a spot rubs, bring them in. We can stretch a single point on the last rather than letting you suffer through it.
