Lecturers and support staff at Studiepoort answer student questions every day. Most of them come down to one thing: students want to know what is due and when.
Post clear dates on the portal and answer queries within two working days. Students then plan better and panic less.
A student who knows the due date on day one will almost always hand in on time. Sipho Ndlovu, Student Support CoordinatorOur team in Hatfield reviews portal messages every morning, so nothing sits unanswered over a weekend.
Give students a clear weekly plan
Share a short list each Monday with readings, tasks and deadlines. Students who can see the whole week tend to start assignments earlier and ask better questions.
Keep feedback short and kind
Two or three specific comments help more than a page of notes. Tell the student what worked, what to fix, and where to find the study guide that explains it.
