What is a privacy policy?

A privacy policy is a document that explains how Kursusmark collects, uses, shares and protects the personal information that students and instructors give us. It tells you what data we keep, why we need it and what rights you have over it under POPIA, so you can trust us with your details when you sign up for a course.

Details you give us when you sign up

When you create a Kursusmark account, you give us personal information that includes your name and a password. You can also choose to add a phone number or payment details to your account. Even if you are not signed in, you might choose to give us information, like an email address to contact us or to receive updates about new courses from our instructors
We also collect the content you create, upload, or receive when using Kursusmark. This includes things like messages you send to instructors, course files you upload, assignments you submit, and reviews you write on courses and comments you leave on lessons.

Information we collect as you use Kursusmark courses

We collect information about the apps, browsers, and devices you use to open Kursusmark, which helps us provide features like saving your lesson progress and adjusting video quality if your mobile data is low.
The information we collect includes unique identifiers, browser type and settings, device type and settings, operating system, mobile network information including carrier name and phone number, and app version number. We also collect information about how your apps, browsers, and devices interact with our services, including IP address, error reports, system activity, and the date, time, and referring page of your request.

If you use our services to make and receive calls or send and receive messages, we may collect call and message log information like your phone number, calling number, receiving number, sender and recipient email address, time and date of calls and messages, duration of calls, and types and volumes of calls and messages.

When this policy applies

This Privacy Policy applies to all of the services offered by Kursusmark, including our website, our course pages, and services offered on third-party sites, such as payment and advertising services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to services that have separate privacy policies that do not include this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

We change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We always show the date the last changes were published and we offer access to older versions for your review. If changes are significant, we will give a more prominent notice, including email notification of Privacy Policy changes.
