Caring for solid wood furniture

Solid wood furniture can last for generations with a little care. The biggest enemies are direct sunlight, heat and sudden changes in humidity. Strong afternoon sun through a window can fade and dry out a tabletop surprisingly quickly, so position pieces carefully or use curtains and blinds during the hottest part of the day. A good position from the start saves a lot of restoration later.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and wipe spills straight away. Use coasters and placemats to prevent rings and heat marks. Avoid silicone sprays, which can build up over time. Depending on the finish, an occasional treatment with a suitable wax or oil keeps the wood nourished. Ask us which product suits your piece.
