Choosing an ergonomic chair for long days at the desk
IT staff often sit for ten hours a day, switching between code, calls and cables. A good chair matters more for them than almost anyone. Look for a seat with adjustable height, a backrest that follows the curve of the spine and armrests that move. Test it for at least ten minutes in our Kempton Park showroom before you decide.
Good support should feel almost invisible. If you keep shifting around, the chair is probably the wrong size for you.
Planning your layout
Measure the room, mark doors and windows, then leave clear walkways between desks.

Start with the seat height. Your feet should rest flat on the floor and your knees should sit at roughly right angles. Then check the seat depth, so the edge does not press behind your knees. Most people only need a few small changes to feel the difference.
Adjust it before you sit
Set the backrest so it supports the lower back, then bring the armrests up until your shoulders relax. Keep the screen at eye level and an arm's length away. Stand up and stretch every hour, even when a deadline is close. A chair helps, but movement does the rest.
The best chair is the one you forget about by lunchtime. Comfort should never be what you think about while working.
