Workshop Tips

Workshop safety basics every DIYer should know

Power tools save time and effort, but they need respect. Most workshop injuries happen during quick jobs when people skip the basics. Always wear safety glasses when drilling, cutting or grinding, and use hearing protection with loud tools such as angle grinders and circular saws. A dust mask is essential when sanding or cutting materials that create fine dust.

Keep your work area tidy and well lit, and clamp workpieces securely instead of holding them by hand. Unplug tools or remove the battery before changing blades or bits. Read the manual for every new tool, even if you have used similar ones before. Keep a basic first aid kit in the workshop where everyone can find it.
