SPICED RUM

THE SPICED CARIBBEAN RUM

A dark spiced rum with vanilla, clove and a little orange peel. Warm enough to sip on its own, and it makes a very good rum and ginger ale.

HOW IT IS MADE

Cask aged.

Pot stilled from molasses, aged in old bourbon casks and then steeped with whole spices. No colouring, no added sugar beyond what the cask gives it.
HOW TO DRINK IT

Craft Spirits

Pour it over ice with ginger ale and a wedge of lime, or sip it neat after a braai. It also works in a hot toddy on a cold Cape evening.
SPICED RUM

Makes a good gift.

Pair it with our copper mugs and a bottle of local ginger beer, and you have a gift box that goes down well with almost anyone.

Description

CARIBBEAN SPICE

This rum is blended with vanilla, cinnamon and dark sugar, then rested in oak until the spice settles in. It pours amber and smells like Christmas cake.

At 40% alcohol in a 750 ml bottle, it mixes well with cola or ginger beer, and holds its own over ice on a warm evening.

WARM AND SPICED

Serve this rum neat to taste the vanilla and clove, or over ice with a wedge of orange. It also makes a solid rum and coke for a braai, since the spice does not get lost in the mixer.

  • Minceptos pri 187cm/3'1.3" tall

TASTING NOTES

Expect a warm, rounded character with a touch of spice on the finish. This is a bottle for sipping slowly, not mixing into something sweet.

Serving suggestion

  • Pour neat or over one large ice cube
  • Let it sit for a minute before the first sip
  • Keep the bottle upright and out of direct sun

Once opened, store it in a cool, dark cupboard and it will hold its character for months. Share it with someone who will appreciate the effort that went into it.
