Description

Every pair we make starts with full-grain leather chosen by hand at the tannery, then cut, skived and stitched on the bench in our Sir Lowry Road workshop. We work slowly because the parts that matter, the welt, the lining and the lasting, only sit right when someone is watching them go together. Nothing leaves the room until it has been walked in.

Leather is a living thing. Feed it, dry it away from heat, and it will hold a shape that belongs to your own foot.

Fit should feel snug across the instep and easy at the toes, with a little give as the leather settles. Wipe off dust, let damp pairs dry slowly, and use a cedar tree to keep the shape. When the sole wears thin, send them back and we will resole them rather than have you buy again.

CARE AND FIT

Leather needs a little attention and not much else. Wipe the dust off after a long day, let wet pairs dry slowly away from a heater, and give the uppers a thin coat of cream every month or so.

HOW TO LOOK AFTER THEM

  • Use cedar shoe trees overnight to hold the shape.
  • Rotate pairs so the lining has a day to dry.
  • Bring worn soles back to us before the welt goes.

Sizing runs true in South Africa and EU. If you are between sizes or have a high instep, phone the workshop on 021 555 0164 and we will talk it through.
