Tips for Finishing an Online Course with Load Shedding

Load shedding can interrupt even the best study plans, but you can work around it. Check your area’s schedule at the start of each week and plan your lessons for the hours when the power is on. Download videos and notes while you have data and electricity. Charge your phone, laptop and power bank before each outage.

Plan around the power cuts

Check the load shedding schedule on Sunday and mark the outages on your study timetable. Do lessons that need the internet while the power is on. Keep a power bank and a downloaded copy of your notes close by, so a sudden outage does not stop you.

Keep going until the end

Finishing an online course is mostly about routine. Pick the same time each day, tell a friend what you are studying and celebrate each completed lesson. If life gets busy, message our student support team. We would rather help you catch up than see you stop.

  1. Good article for teachers. The advice on moving lessons online is clear and easy to follow. I will try it with my Grade 9 learners.

  2. Helpful read for students and lecturers alike. The points on mobile learning in our schools matched what I see every day. Well done.
