Maths Literacy or Pure Maths: Which Is Right for Your Teen

Many parents ask us if learning on a phone or tablet really helps. Our honest answer is that it depends on how it is used.
At Slimkop Learning Centre we use screens for past papers, spelling games and quick quizzes, then switch to pen and paper for working out.
A device is only a tool. The learner still has to think, write and practise. Thandeka Mkhize, Centre DirectorSet a clear time limit, sit nearby and ask your child to explain what they learned afterwards.
Choosing useful apps and websites
Look for tools that follow the CAPS curriculum and give feedback on answers. Free DBE past papers and school portals are a good place to begin, and they cost no data beyond the download.
Keeping screen time balanced
Agree on study hours, put the phone in another room during homework, and finish with a short offline task such as a handwritten summary. Small rules at home make a big difference.

Good, clear advice for parents. I like that it explains things simply and does not make homework time feel like a battle. Well done to the team.
