CAPS stands for the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement. It tells every South African school what to teach in each subject and grade, and when.
This means a Grade 5 learner in Durban North covers the same topics as one in Polokwane.

What CAPS means for your child
CAPS is the national curriculum that tells teachers what to cover in each subject and each term. It keeps every school on the same path, from Durban North to the Karoo. Ask your child’s teacher for the term plan so you know what is coming.

Good, clear advice for parents. I like that it explains things simply and does not make homework time feel like a battle. Well done to the team.
