A Guide for Teachers Moving Their Lessons Online

Moving your lessons online does not mean starting from zero. Begin with one class and one tool, and keep the first month simple. Record short videos of about ten minutes, then follow them with a live question session.
Most teachers tell us the hardest part is staying in touch with learners who have little data. Send notes by WhatsApp and keep your files small.
Start small, ask your learners what works, and change one thing at a time. Thandiwe Mokoena, Academic HeadOur Online Tutoring Skills for Teachers course walks you through planning, marking and running live classes, one step at a time.
Plan your first online week
Choose one subject and one grade. Write down what learners must be able to do by Friday. Split the work into short videos, a worksheet and one live check-in. Test everything on a phone first, because most of your learners will use one.
Keep learners involved
Ask a question every five minutes. Use polls, voice notes and small group chats. Praise effort openly and follow up quietly with anyone who goes silent. Zanele Khumalo and her team are happy to help you set up your first live class.

Really clear explanations. I like that you mention data costs and load shedding. A helpful resource for learners and teachers alike.
