A Guide for Employers Upskilling Their Staff

Training your team does not have to mean sending everyone away for a week. Short online courses let staff learn between tasks and use new skills the same day. Start by listing the skills your business needs most, such as Excel reporting, social media writing or basic website updates. Then match each person to one course.

How to choose the right course for each person

Look at the tasks that fill most of someone’s week. A bookkeeper may need Data Analysis with Excel and Power BI, while a receptionist could gain more from Business English Writing and Speaking. Agree on a finish date and give staff two hours of paid study time each week.

What to expect from your staff

Expect questions in the first two weeks, then steady progress. Ask for a short summary at the end and let them try the new skill on a real task. Our student support team at Leerlyn can send you progress updates if you need them.
