Choosing a course is easier when you know what you want at the end of it. Write down the job, the project or the side income you are aiming for, then look at what each course actually covers.
At Leerlyn in Rosebank, our students tell us the same thing. The ones who finish are the ones who picked a course that matched a real goal, and who set aside a few hours each week.
Check the lessons, the time needed and what you will be able to do afterwards. Ask whether there is a certificate, and whether someone answers your questions.
A short course is only worth the time if you can use it on Monday morning. ― Thandiwe MokoenaStart small. Pick one course, finish it, and build from there. Our student support team is happy to help you choose on 011 555 0187.
Ask the questions you were too shy to ask
Many of us left school with questions we never raised. Online learning gives you a second chance. Post your question in the course forum or send it to your tutor. Nobody in the room is watching. Tutors at Leerlyn would much rather answer a small question early than see you fall behind later.
Learning that fits around your life
You do not need to put work or family on hold. Lessons are short and you can pause them at any time. Use a quiet hour after supper or a lunch break. Over a few weeks, those hours add up to a real qualification you can show an employer.
