Good business English starts with the emails you write every day. Read each one aloud before you send it. If you run out of breath, the sentence is too long.
Next, build a small list of phrases for meetings, such as asking for clarity or agreeing politely. Practise them with a colleague over lunch.
Ten minutes of speaking practice a day beats two hours once a week. Thandiwe Mokoena, Head of LearningOur Business English Writing and Speaking course follows this approach. You learn at your own pace, and each lesson ends with a short task you can use at work the same day.
Practise a little every day
Short daily sessions work better than long weekend ones. Set aside twenty minutes before work or during your commute. Read one article in English, note three new words, and use them in an email or message that same day.
Get feedback on your writing
Ask a colleague or tutor to read your work and mark what sounds unclear. Our tutors reply to every submitted exercise in the Business English course, so you always know what to fix next.
