Sending flowers to another city is trickier than it looks. A bouquet needs water, cool air and gentle handling, none of which a standard parcel courier can give it. Get the journey wrong and it shows the moment the box is opened.

That is why we do not post flowers. We work with florists in other towns and cities, so your order is made up fresh near where it is going, not driven across the country in a box.

Here is how it works. You place one order with us and give us the delivery address, even in another city. We pass it to a trusted florist nearby, who makes up the arrangement and delivers it on the day you choose, with one invoice and one point of contact for you.

Long trips need sturdier packaging. Stems go in wet floral tissue, boxed upright so they cannot shift, using flowers that travel well, like roses and proteas, over delicate ones such as ranunculus. We seal the box with air holes and water where we can manage it.

Not every flower suits a long trip. For distance orders we lean toward hardy varieties such as proteas, roses, carnations and lilies, and keep delicate blooms like hydrangea for same day, same city deliveries. Tell us the occasion and the distance, and we will suggest something built to last.

Built To Last - Shop Bouquets

Timing matters more over distance than across town. We ask for your delivery date and a rough time, so the receiving florist can plan around it instead of rushing a late order. For birthdays and busy weekends, book a day or two ahead where you can.

Once your order is placed, we keep you posted. You will get a message when the flowers are handed over for delivery, and another once they have arrived, so you are never left wondering. Changed the address or the timing? Let us know and we will pass it on.

We can arrange delivery to most major centres in South Africa, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha and Bloemfontein, plus many smaller towns nearby. Not sure if we cover an address? Send us the suburb before you order and we will confirm it.

Pack smart

Boxes matter as much as the flowers inside them. Stems are trimmed, given a fresh drink and wrapped so they cannot bruise against the sides. Taller arrangements travel upright, flatter ones lie flat with padding between layers. It is detail you would only notice if it went wrong.

Check timing

A bouquet cut on a Monday and only delivered on a Thursday will not look its best, however well it travelled. We work backwards from your delivery date to decide when flowers are cut and made up, so they are as fresh as possible on arrival. Give us a day or two where you can.

Mind distance

Every florist we use in other cities is someone we know and trust, not a random listing. We brief them on the colours and the occasion, and they make the arrangement up fresh on their end, so the bouquet delivered is close to the one you actually ordered.

Add message

A delivery that arrives without a word from the sender can feel a little empty, especially when you are not there to hand it over yourself. Add a short message when you order and we will write it on a card and tuck it into the flowers.

If a bouquet arrives in poor condition after a long trip, let us know that day with a photo and we will sort it out, whether a replacement or a refund suits you better. It does not happen often, thanks to how carefully these orders are packed, but we would rather fix it than leave you unhappy.

We treat every long distance order as if the person receiving it is standing in front of us. Flowers are chosen for the journey, the box is built to protect them, and timing is worked around the delivery date, not the order date.

Keeping flowers hydrated on a long trip starts before the box is sealed. Stems get a fresh cut, a deep drink of water, and where possible a small water source built into the box. Heat does more damage than the travel itself, so we avoid delicate blooms in summer.

We like to give the person receiving the flowers a heads up where we can. A short message lets them know a delivery is coming on a certain day, so someone is there to accept it and get the flowers into water quickly.

Our hat boxes travel especially well, because the lid keeps everything in place and the stems sit snug rather than shifting. We line the base with wet foam so the flowers stay fed with water for the whole trip, then tape the lid down firmly.

South African weather is not the same from one end of the country to the other. A bouquet leaving a cool coastal morning might land in a hot inland afternoon, so we choose flowers that can handle the heat and avoid ones that wilt quickly.

Every long distance order gets a last check before it leaves our workroom, making sure stems are secure, water sources are sealed and nothing has shifted in the box. It is a small step, but it catches most problems before they happen.
