Flowers for a funeral, done respectfully

Sending flowers to a funeral is one of the simplest ways to show you are thinking of a family. It does not need to be big or expensive to mean something. A small, well made arrangement often says more than a large one.

In this post we go through a few things that help: how to pick colours, when to have flowers delivered, and what to write on the card.

Choosing Colours

White, cream and soft green are always safe, and they suit any culture or faith. If the family has mentioned a favourite colour, or flowers from the person's own garden, we try to work those in instead.

Bright, loud colours are not wrong. Some families want to celebrate rather than mourn quietly, so ask what feels right for this particular family before you decide.

Delivery Timing

We deliver funeral flowers early on the morning of the service, straight to the church, mosque or crematorium, so there is nothing for the family to carry or arrange on the day itself.

If you are not sure what to write on the card, keep it simple. A short line like "thinking of you" is always enough. If you would rather support the family directly, ask us about a smaller posy instead of a large standing spray.
