How we keep food hot on the way to you

Styled table with insulated delivery bags and hot takeaway meal containers in a bright home setting

Keeping food hot after it leaves the kitchen takes more than a fast rider. Every order goes into an insulated bag that locks in heat and keeps steam away from the food.

We check our insulated delivery bags every week and replace any that have lost their seal. Hot items and cold drinks are packed apart so nothing goes soft on the way.

Insulated bags

Every bag we use has double walls filled with insulation, the same idea as a padded cooler box but built to hold heat in instead of keeping cold out. We seal each one before a rider leaves so warm air stays locked inside rather than escaping every time a lid gets lifted on the way. Drivers carry two sizes, a small bag for single orders and a bigger one for groups, so nothing gets squashed and nothing is left with room for heat to escape.

Smart timing

We never plate food until a rider is already on the way to collect it. That means your order is cooked to order, not sitting on a counter waiting for someone to finish their round. Our kitchen screen shows exactly where each rider is, so the chips go into the fryer at the right moment and the patty comes off the grill just before it leaves the building. It sounds simple, but that timing is the real reason your food still feels fresh when it reaches your door.

Short routes

Our riders know which routes keep food hottest, avoiding long waits at traffic lights where they can. Each bike has a heated box fitted to the back, so chips stay crisp and curries stay steaming until they reach your door, even on a cold Cape Town evening.

Cursus aliquam

Chips, wraps and burgers all travel in their own foil liners before they go into the bag. Foil liners hold in steam without turning everything soggy, which is the balance we are always chasing. Pizza boxes get a small vent flap left open so steam can escape instead of turning the base soft. Small things, but they add up to a meal that still tastes like it just came off the grill.

Before a rider leaves our kitchen, we check the packing checklist and the time on the ticket. Orders more than fifteen minutes from your address get an extra hot pack. We track every delivery so we know our average delivery time and keep improving it.
