Picking a power supply you can trust
A power supply is not something to save money on. It's the one part that touches every other component, and a bad one can take the rest of your build down with it. Wattage gets all the attention, but it's only half the story.
Efficiency rating, build quality and the protections built in matter just as much as the number on the box.
Start With Wattage
Add up what your graphics card and processor draw, then leave real headroom for upgrades later. Running close to the limit shortens a power supply's life and makes the whole system less stable under load.
A cheap power supply is the one upgrade you'll never see, right up until the day it fails and takes something else with it.

R7,720.00Look for an 80 Plus rating before anything else. It tells you how much power is wasted as heat rather than used by your PC. Bronze is fine for most builds, Gold is worth it if your machine runs for long hours every day.
Cables And Connectors
Modular cables make for a tidier case and easier airflow, since you only plug in what you actually use. Non modular units work fine too, just expect more bundling inside the case.
Built In Protection
Look for over voltage, over current and short circuit protection as standard. These are the features that save your other components when something inside the power supply goes wrong.
Stick to known brands rather than the cheapest unlabelled unit you can find. Not sure what you have running already? Bring your PC in and we'll check whether your current power supply still matches what the rest of your build needs.
