Types of baby rashes and how to effectively treat them

Most babies get a rash at some point, and most of them are harmless. Nappy rash, heat rash and little milk spots on the face all look alarming the first time you see them. Knowing roughly what you are looking at makes it easier to decide whether to treat at home or phone the clinic.

Keep the skin clean and dry, change nappies often, and give a few minutes of nappy-free time where you can. Soft organic cotton next to the skin helps, since rough seams and synthetics make irritation worse. If the rash spreads, blisters, or comes with a fever, speak to your pharmacist, clinic sister or doctor.
