Everything starts flat. A hide goes on the cutting table, the pattern gets moved around the scars, and the uppers come off with a round knife. From there it is skiving the edges thin, closing the seams, pulling the upper over a last and leaving it to settle for a few days before the sole goes anywhere near it.
