Use short, spaced revision

Revise a topic on the same day, then again after three days and once more a week later. This spacing helps facts move into long term memory. It works for Maths formulas and Science definitions alike.

Make your own summaries

Write one page per chapter in your own words. Add small drawings or mind maps. Learners in our Note Taking and Summary Skills class for Grade 6 are often surprised by how much they remember.

  1. Thank you for this. We have started the weekly routine at home and my son in Grade 7 is already less stressed about homework.

  2. Very useful post. The tips on checking past papers with your child are practical, and we will try them before the June exams. Thank you, Slimkop.

  3. Good, clear advice for parents. I like that it explains things simply and does not make homework time feel like a battle. Well done to the team.
