Good business English starts with the emails you already write. Nomvula Ndlovu, our English language teacher, says to pick three emails a week and rewrite them in shorter sentences.
Read them aloud. If you run out of breath, cut the sentence in two. Learn five useful phrases for meetings and use them the same week.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson MandelaTen minutes a day beats one long session on Saturday. Try the Everyday English Speaking and Grammar course on Kursusmark, which is free.
Practise with real work
Use the messages you send at work as practice. Rewrite a quote, a WhatsApp reply or a short report in plain English, then compare it with your first draft. Small fixes add up quickly, and your clients will notice the difference within a month.
Speak every day
Find one person to speak English with for ten minutes a day. A colleague, a friend or a class partner works well. Record yourself once a week and listen back. You will hear your own progress, and that keeps you going.
