What to bring to your first meeting with an architect

Open desk with architectural plans, sketchbook, tape measure and notes laid out for a first client meeting with an archi

You do not need drawings or a fixed plan to start talking to an architect. A few simple things help a lot: a copy of your title deed or site details, photos of the property, a rough budget range and a list of what you want the home to do. Images of homes you love, and why you love them, are useful too.

We also like to know how you live. Do you entertain often, work from home or have family staying for long holidays? These details shape the layout more than any style choice. After the first meeting we send a short summary of the brief and the next steps, so you can check we have understood you properly.
