A Phone That Opens Into Tablet

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 folds shut like a normal phone and opens into a 7.6 inch screen that feels close to a small tablet. Samsung redesigned the hinge for this model, so the two halves now close flat with no gap between them. That makes it thinner and lighter in the pocket than the Fold4. Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip tuned for Galaxy, which handles games, video calls and split screen apps with ease. The frame is Armour Aluminium and the outer screen uses tough Gorilla Glass.

Flex Hinge

The new Flex Hinge lets the Fold5 close completely flat. You can also stop it halfway, stand it on a table and use the top half for video calls or photos without holding it in your hand.

Run Three Apps on One Screen

Open the phone and drag apps from the taskbar to run three side by side. Answer email while a meeting and a document stay open next to it.

DeX

The Galaxy Z Fold5 carries an IPX8 rating, which means it can handle fresh water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. It is not rated against dust or sand, so keep it away from the beach and out of dusty cubbyholes. Salt water and pool water can still cause damage. The folding inner screen has a protective layer applied at the factory, and you should not peel it off. Avoid pressing hard on the inner display with nails or sharp objects. Your phone comes new and sealed with full SA warranty, and our team can help with setup at the showroom.

Screen sizes are measured diagonally as a full rectangle. The inner display is 7.6 inches and the cover screen is 6.2 inches, but the rounded corners and the camera cut out make the visible area on both screens slightly smaller than that.

The S Pen Fold Edition is sold separately, and it only works on the large inner screen.

Some features such as DeX and split screen depend on software updates and on which apps developers have optimised for the fold so far.
