Load Shedding and Online Classes: How We Adapted

Load shedding changed how we run classes at Highveld University. Students were missing live lectures when the power went off, so we looked for a better way. Every lecture is now recorded and uploaded within the hour. Notes download for offline reading, which helps when the Wi-Fi drops.
It always seems impossible until it is done. Nelson Mandela
Sipho Dlamini from Computer Science helped us test the system. Today a power cut means a late recording, not a missed class.

Recorded lectures you can replay

Each lecture is saved so you can watch it later, at your own pace. Pause, rewind and make notes. If your area has a blackout schedule, plan your viewing for the hours when the power is on.

Tips for staying connected

Keep a power bank charged and a small data bundle ready. Download the week’s notes on Sunday, so a blackout never stops your studies.
