Starting a Small Business After Your BCom

Many graduates dream of running their own business. A BCom from Highveld University gives you the basics in accounting, marketing and management, but the real learning starts when you serve your first customer. Begin small. Test your idea with a few clients, keep clear records and separate your personal and business money. Talk to people who have done it before you, including our lecturers and alumni.

How to turn your studies into income

Start with a skill people already pay for, such as bookkeeping, web design or marketing. Offer it to a few local businesses in Pretoria, ask for honest feedback and build from there. Your coursework projects can double as your first portfolio.

Learning from real owners

Our open days and business breakfasts bring students together with owners who have been through the early struggles. Listen to their mistakes, take notes and follow up afterwards. One good conversation can save you a year.
