Why we pack chips separately
Hot chips lose their crunch fast once steam gets trapped. Put them in a box with a burger or wrap and by the time it reaches you, they have gone soft and a bit sad.
That is why every order of chips from us travels in its own container, with its own vents, away from anything wet or saucy.

Our chip boxes are vented on the sides so steam can escape instead of turning into moisture that soaks through the box. We also give chips a few extra minutes under the heat lamp before they go in, so they hold their crunch for the whole trip to your door, even on a longer drive.
Steam is the main reason chips go soft. When a lid closes over a box with chips next to something hot and wet, moisture has nowhere to go and it lands right back on the chips. Keeping them apart keeps that moisture away and keeps the crunch you paid for.

Sauce is another culprit. A sachet that leaks or a dollop of mayo sliding around can turn a box of chips into mush within minutes. We keep sauces sealed and separate so your chips arrive dry and your sauce arrives exactly where you want it, not mixed in.

Our chip boxes have small vents built into the lid so hot air can escape instead of turning into steam. It is a small thing, but it is the difference between chips that are still crunchy when you open the box and chips that have gone limp on the ride over.

We also keep chip boxes upright in the delivery bag, never stacked under the heavier boxes. A burger box pressing down on chips for twenty minutes does more damage than steam ever could, so our riders load chips last and on top.
Stays Crispy
Chips lose their crunch fast when trapped under steam. Keeping them in their own vented box means the heat has somewhere to go, so they are still crisp by the time you open the bag, not soft and pale.
Vented Lids
Every chip box we use has small vents cut into the lid. Hot air escapes instead of turning into water droplets that fall back onto the chips, which is usually what makes a box go soggy.
Sauce Apart
Sauces and dips travel in sealed pots, never poured over the chips before they leave the kitchen. That way nothing goes soft from sitting in sauce, and you get to add as much or as little as you like.
Timing Matters
We plate chips as close to pickup time as we can and give them a short run under the heat lamp first. Getting that timing right matters more than almost anything else in keeping them crisp.
This is a small habit but it adds up. Separate boxes, vented lids and careful packing are the reason our chips still have bite when they reach you, close by or further out.

Keeping chips crisp starts in the kitchen. We fry in small batches so nothing sits waiting too long, then move straight to a vented box built just for chips, never shared with anything wet.
A vented box only works if the chips go in dry. Draining off the extra oil before packing makes as much difference as the box itself, so we rest chips on a rack for a minute before boxing them.
Riders carry chip boxes separately from the rest of the order where the bag allows, upright and on top, so nothing heavy presses down and squashes them flat on the way to you.
On longer trips we add an extra minute under the heat lamp before packing, enough to hold the heat without drying the chips out. Short hops do not need it, so we adjust order by order.
If chips still arrive soft, it is usually the weather. A very hot day can soften even a vented box. Let us know when it happens so we can look at the route and timing for your area.
We keep testing small changes, box shape, vent size, fry time, to get chips that are still crunchy twenty minutes after they leave the kitchen. It is a detail we care about more than most.
