Staff finish online training when it fits into their working day. Keep each lesson short, ideally under fifteen minutes, and give people protected time to complete it, not just their lunch break.
Make the topic useful on Monday morning. A lesson on handling an angry customer will be finished faster than a general talk on company values.
People finish what their manager takes seriously. Charlene Adams, Communication Skills TrainerShare progress in your weekly team meeting and celebrate those who complete a course. A small word of thanks from a manager goes a long way.
Set a clear deadline
Give every learner a finish date and tell them why it matters. When people know the course helps them in their role, they are far more likely to log in and complete it on time.
Make help easy to find
Some staff are nervous about computers. Put a colleague or our training coordinator on hand to answer questions. A quick phone call on 011 555 0341 often solves a problem in minutes.
