Matric exam season is tense for the whole family. Learners need quiet evenings, regular meals and enough sleep. Parents do not need to know the maths. They only need to keep the routine steady.
At Kennispunt Academy in Menlo Park, we ask parents to put the exam timetable on the fridge and agree on study hours and phone-free times.
A calm home is the best study space a matric learner can have. Thandiwe Mokoena, Centre DirectorIf marks drop or worry grows, talk early. Call us on 012 555 0163 and we will help with a revision plan for the final weeks.
Make a simple exam timetable
List every paper with its date and start time. Then give each subject a few short study blocks before it. Hard subjects like Maths Paper 2 and Physical Sciences need more blocks. Tick off each block when it is done, so your child can see the progress.
Keep the house calm
Offer a quiet room, a glass of water and a proper breakfast on paper days. Avoid arguments about marks during exam weeks. Praise effort, and save the talk about results for after the last paper.

Clear and practical article. I shared it with my Grade 11 class group and we are already trying the revision timetable ideas before the November exams.
