Matric exam season is tense for the whole family. Learners need quiet evenings, regular meals and enough sleep. Parents do not need to know the maths. They only need to keep the routine steady. At Kennispunt Academy in Menlo Park, we ask parents to put the exam timetable on the fridge and agree on study hours and phone-free times.

Make a simple exam timetable

List every paper with its date and start time. Then give each subject a few short study blocks before it. Hard subjects like Maths Paper 2 and Physical Sciences need more blocks. Tick off each block when it is done, so your child can see the progress.

Keep the house calm

Offer a quiet room, a glass of water and a proper breakfast on paper days. Avoid arguments about marks during exam weeks. Praise effort, and save the talk about results for after the last paper.
