When I started studying part-time, I almost gave up in the first month. What helped was a simple weekly plan and one fixed study hour after supper.
I also asked for help early. Fatima Ismail in Student Support pointed me to tutoring and a quiet room on campus.
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Malcolm XA year later my marks had gone up and my stress had gone down. Small habits, kept every week, made the difference.
Plan your week on Sunday
Write down lectures, deadlines and work shifts. Then place your study blocks around them. A written plan stops assignments from sneaking up on you and makes it easier to say no to last minute invitations.
Use the support around you
Our lecturers, tutors and student support staff are there to help. Book a short chat when you feel behind. Most problems are easier to fix in week three than in week ten.
