How to Recover Faster Between Sessions

Hard sessions only work if your body gets time to rebuild. Many people in Bellville train four or five days a week and then wonder why they feel flat. Start with the basics. Sleep seven to eight hours, drink water through the day and eat protein after you train. Pieter van der Merwe, our Strength and Conditioning Coach, also swears by an easy walk the day after a heavy leg session.

How to bounce back between sessions

Plan your hard days and your easy days before the week starts. Follow a heavy lift day with light cardio or mobility work. Eat a proper meal within a couple of hours of training, with protein and some carbs. If your legs feel heavy for more than three days, drop the weight a little.

Why rest days are part of the plan

Rest days are when muscle repairs and your energy comes back. Skipping them leads to sore joints, bad sleep and flat sessions. We build at least two rest or recovery days into every member’s programme, and we adjust them if your work week gets busy.
